About the Engineers Australia Skill Assessment

Engineers Australia (EA) is the peak engineering body in Australia and the designated skills assessing authority for engineering occupations under the Department of Home Affairs. A positive EA assessment is a mandatory prerequisite for engineers seeking skilled migration visas including the Subclass 189, 190, and 491.

Engineers Australia assesses engineers at three levels: Professional Engineer (PE), Engineering Technologist (ET), and Engineering Associate (EA). Your level is primarily determined by your highest engineering qualification.

Assessment Pathways

CDR PathwaySubmit three career episodes, CPD list, and summary statement. Required for most overseas-trained engineers.
Washington AccordFor graduates from accredited programs — simplified process without full career episodes.
Competency AssessmentFor senior engineers with extensive post-qualification experience.
Chartered EngineerFor engineers holding chartered status from a recognised body.

Who Needs a Full CDR?

Engineers from countries whose universities are not accredited under the Washington, Sydney, or Dublin Accords must submit a full CDR. This includes most engineers from Nepal, India (many institutions), Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the Philippines, and many other countries.

Our team checks your Washington Accord eligibility as part of the free consultation and confirms the correct pathway for your specific degree.
